Give this a try if you have stencil buffer support. http://www.powerrender.com/prdemos/ShadowEngineDemo.zip Author of Power Render (http:/www.powerrender.com)

I was recently thinking about trying to add some realtime shadow effects to Power Render. I guess Chris beat me to it...

The realtime shadows look great. Awesome work Chris!

Pretty good, but it ran a little slow (10fps) on my celery 466, Rage Fury Pro 32mb. Still pretty neat looking though!

Radeon 64mb DDR... no shadows... .

I tried both 16 bit and 32 bit modes, both the same.

What''s wrong?

I''m getting about 160 fps with GF3 and Athlon 1.2.

I''ll pop that out and try a radeon to see what is going on.

I''ve fixed the problem with Radeons. It was a driver problem because for some reason it''s not showing all of the proper stencil capabilities even though they are supported.

Download it again and it will work.

Do the lights dim when you turn on your computer?

Very cool man. Runs good on my GeForce 256 DDR 32mb which gives me 50fps w/ 32bits per pixel. I also have a p3 600 and 256mb of ram. Any chance of seeing source? Im just trying to figure out the whole finding a edge conectivity list to make the volumes. Are you taking advantage of semi-infinite polygons by setting the W component of your vertices to 0? NVIDIA talked about this in a presentation of their robust shadow volume presentation.

i have Geforce256 DDR 32mb on Win2K.

but i got this error:
"It requires a stencil buffer with more than 1 bit per pixel"

i think my is the second version with Radeon fix.

can those with Geforce256 try the latest version again ?

Are you running your desktop in 32 bit? Probably won''t be able to use stencil buffer unless you do.
