UVN Matrix

Could someone explain the UVN matrix to me? I''ve read alot of articles wich explain UVN but I don''t get it =/ like: NewPoint.X = XAxis.x*Point.x + XAxis.y*Point.y + XAxis.z*Point.z huh? Isn''t XAxis.x the same as Point.x? - Surreal (Surreal was already taken, so I went with SurrealSlacker...)
