opening/closing ports using C++?

i''m working on a port scanner (or at least trying to..), but i also want my program to have an option that lets you close ports on your computer or open them up. does anyone know how to close/open your ports using C++ code?

If i where you id be reading about sockets alot and looking around for some open source from port scanners/firewalls.
