Uninstalling Direct-X v8.1 - how to do it?
From somewhere I seem to have installed a version of DX 8.1 beta - and now - every time I run a program which uses DX - I get a message box saying "The pre-release version of DX has expired, please upgrade to the latest version from http://www.micro$oft.com/directx"
Does anyone know how to get rid of the this message - I''d like uninstall v8.1beta and re-install v8.0, but the 8.0 install notices that all the .DLLs have a more recent version number and does nothing.
Please help, my poor little 56K modem can''t cope with downloading 25MB for v9.0 beta...
First of all, the DX 8.1 is not a public beta. You shouldn''t have it installed unless your an official beta tester. Second DX9 isn''t even out yet. And finaly the only solution to your problem is to download the public non beta direct x 8.0 from microsofts site OR if you are an official beta tester to download the latest 8.1 beta from the private MS dx 8.1 site.
i have got the same problem as well. When i tried to install the public direct x 8 (the one from the MS site) i keep getting the same error messages - direct (whatever)has expired - please download from microsoft.
anyone else got any idea on what to do?

Hello!
There''s a program called DirectXBuster
Here''s the download-url:
http://www.directxbuster.de/cgi-bin/dl2.pl?dxb20b3e.exe
With this one you can delete DirectX form your machine and install another one.
