Locking Surface too Slow

I was wondering if there is a alternate way to get and put pixels on a DirectDraw Surface. Locking the surface for every frame is very slow.

if you are just putting pixels, you could try having two (or more) surfaces and locking/writing to/blitting them in sequence.
