Just curious what you use to capture game play video to make demo videos.  I've been working on a prototype and I wanted to add a quick gameplay video to my website.

Google lists a bunch of questionable results that don't smell sanitary...

Buy FRAPS, and an SSD if you need high res or frame rate. There are many options out there and all of them manage to disappoint except FRAPS. It's so very worth it.

If you've got a modern nVidia card, then ShadowPlay works wonderfully.

Another option that's more popular with consoles than PCs, is to plug your PC's HDMI-out into another PC's capture-card's HDMI-in.

I use FRAPS for videos.

Also, sometimes, you just want to quickly put something together on a forum that doesn't allow you to embed videos (not here obviously). For this I tend to use LICEcap which does screen capture but outputs as an animated gif!

I know OBS (https://obsproject.com/) is made for streaming but it also records good quality. You can set regions and windows to capture, also add overlays and other things too it as well.

That's what I use as well. It's a bit tricky to use - some of the settings are well hidden, but it's much better than Fraps.
