Why do people say that Java and C++ are alike? They have absolutely nothing in common, besides being programming languages and the stuff that goes with it. Even syntactically, these languages are very different. I think that people just see the same keywords as same syntax. Take a look at this (I think this is right): C++:
  class Subclass : public Baseclass, Abstractclass { public: int Nothing(void) { return crap; } private: int crap; }
Java:
  public class Subclass extends Baseclass implents Abstractclass { public int Nothing() { return crap; } private int crap; }
True, there are some similarities. But, if you look closely, you will see that there is very little in common past some of the similar keywords and the curly braces and semicolons. Sorry, but I just had to get that off my chest. BTW: If my Java syntax is a little off, I know.

I cannot for the world figure out why this bothers you?

Personally I see a lot of similarity and I wonder if you don''t see it or maybe you do not want to see it?

It is obvious and good that the developers of Java wanted it to be similar.

Anyway, I do not consider this to be a big issue
