GPU Perfstudio error

Hi,

I'm trying to get started using graphics debugging and since PIX no longer works and I only have Visual Studio 2012 Express the built in graphics debugger is not an option for me so I was dabbling with AMD GPU Perfstudio version 3.0.64.0 and wasn't able to make it work.

I tried with various Rastertek Tutorials and none of them work.

The error I'm getting is the following:

MINE_IDXGIFACTORY_createswapchain device not wrapped

this is preceded by Cannot find DXGICreateFactory error but it says if you are using win7 it is normal (and I am)

Visual Studio 2013 Express is also free and includes the graphics debugger.

You can use PIX with Win7 and the old SDK; there was a Windows update that broke, just uninstall that update (you don't have to uninstall anything else) and you're good to go (though doing this will remove some of the Win7-compatible DirectX 11.1 features): http://gamedev.stackexchange.com/questions/59178/do-i-need-to-update-my-directx-sdk-in-order-to-fix-a-crash-with-d3d10-create-dev

Thanks. I guess you're talking about the Platform Update? That was supposed to add 11.1 features.

Not all versions - VS 2013 Express for Windows Desktop does not. As the OP says he's running Windows 7, that doesn't help.

Please don't PM me with questions. Post them in the forums for everyone's benefit, and I can embarrass myself publicly.

You don't forget how to play when you grow old; you grow old when you forget how to play.

There is a hacked version of PIX to make it work on newer systems.

You should check out Renderdoc, which is an open-source replacement for PIX. It's very good!
