I recently got really pumped about online debugging tools, using windows messages to transmit events to a logging application. I seemed really cool and powerful, so I went ahead and made one. Cool it works. But now, of course I''ve started thinking, why the hell is this better than a log file? All I can think of is that sending a message would only require a little cpu time, so online loging would cause less impact on a running system, where as 50 lines of logging per frame would be a litle painful.. Still, I''m left wondering if there is any other advantage in online logging(now that I''ve built one).. Thoughts? Chris Brodie http:\\fourth.flipcode.com

Networked beta testing?

Have a bunch of people beta test your software on a variety of configurations with the debug data being logged to the central server, indexed by hardware. Bam! Loads of useful data to help you iron out those minor incompatibility issues.

I wanna work for Microsoft!
