Well is there any way to make sure that you have a APG socket? I am pretty sure I have one, but I have no idea how it looks like and I can therefore not locate it. I bought this computer this year so I think I should have one, but all i can find are the six PCI sockets. Is there any way you can know for sure? BTW; this wasnt really gl related, but tis a havy trafficed forum so...

I assume you mean AGP ...
The AGP slot is normally located right above the PCI slots. It is usually black or brown. It looks similar to a PCI slot, but it is a bit smaller.

2X, 4X, etc is sort of like the way CD-ROM drive speeds are measured...I think it refers to how many times faster than the original AGP standard the slot is, like a 4X slot is 4 times faster than the original, 1X. Any motherboard made within probably the last 3 years (if not longer) has a 4X slot.
