Directx9.0 application hanging because of switchable graphics card in hp laptop

Hi

 

i m using directx9.0 based application in my laptop with switchable graphics card (intel hd and nvidia 2 GB) my application hangs very frequently.

Same application if I run on different laptop with only nvidia gfx card works fine.

 

where is the problem.

 

Kindly help me out.

If you haven't, you might have to specify which card to use. i wonder if your application is just using your embedded graphics hardware rather than the card? This happens sometimes, i can't really remember what the symptom are though, so this might not be it, but just a suggestion

It's almost certainly down to Optimus guessing incorrectly about which graphics card to give your game.

 

You can persuade it to pick the right one easily enough though - see this recent thread http://www.gamedev.net/topic/664696-unable-to-toggle-fullscreen-mode/

 

The quickest fix is to add this to your code somewhere:

extern "C" { 

 _declspec(dllexport) DWORD NvOptimusEnablement = 0x00000001;

}
