That's pretty neat.
What sort off maps do you make per texture? (diffuse, normal,..)

Every texture includes a diffuse map, specular map, normal map and height map. For exsample:

really impressive... Wow!

I second the notion that best results can still be achieved with hand drawn / sculpted normal / height maps. My expierience in the end was the same, not matter how impressive the technology of some tools that convert photographs to normal maps is, everything besides scanning the real object to a point cloud is giving a mediocre result at best.

Are you selling these in the Unity Asset Store? Might check them out, if this is the case.

Oh, and if you find the time and do not want to keep it your secret, maybe an article about how you create these would be highly interesting for a lot of people on gamedev....  just saying :)

Yes, you can find my textures on Unity Assets Store: https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/publisher/9154

Or on my website: www.game-textures.com

I'll try to publish an overview describing the process of creating my textures this week. Especially since another forum member has also asked me about it via private message. If people are interested in it, I'd be glad to share my experience.

Will check it out for sure! I found it actually quite hard to get ahold of stock textures with well made heightmaps, most of the time the diffuse and normals are very good but the heightmap is lacking. And as soon as you start using parallax shaders, or you want to kitbash stock textures into textures more fitting for your scene, the heightmap becomes essential.

That would be brilliant. I would really look forward to it!

I can't wait for it. I just signed up for the forum just to say that :) Would you be able to record video tutorials?

Would you be able to record video tutorials?

Hi, thank you :-)
There's no need to make a video – the process is not that complicated. One should just know how to take photos, make model and bake normal and height maps.

Personally, I prefer non-video tutorials.... makes it easier to follow the tutorial at your own speed without constantly having to pause and rewind.

Also, no need for headphones when working through the tutorial at night :)

But of course, that is just personal preference...

How I create my textures:

Thanks a lot for taking your time to explain your process... really interesting to see how other create their textures!

Also, makes me appreciate just how much time you invest into creating your textures! And there I thought painting the heightmap manually in Photoshop was a lot of work....

I guess I should get a good camera, improve my skills as photographers and find some good places to shoot images... :)
