3d games programming- a general question

hi all! i have a general question: sopose i want to create a game using a 3d engine, (and suppose it''s a free one...), what are the tools i need? i know that need i do the game logic in C++ and the "world" in the 3d engine SDK but how do i connect them? It all depends on the 3d engine you choose, since they are prolly very different. Some 3d engines may even come with their own level editors. I assume a 3d engine will come with a manual, some instruction, a forum to discuss problems with other users of the said engine.

Some engines need you to compile your codes and link them to the engine libs, while some have prepared a script editor for you...
right, it just depends on which you choose
