Hello!

I have an application that I have made in Visual Studio 2013 using c++ and DirectX. What I want to do is when you start the application the application should not run immediatly, instead a video should play that is around 10 seconds long and after that the application starts running. So basically what I want to do is just to play a simple video nothing more. How do I do that? Note that I want the video to play in fullscreen mode, not in a window!

Regards!

If you're already using DirectX, look at DirectShow. Here is some example code for how to play an avi file. It can play whatever formats you have codecs for installed on the PC.

If you are using some obscure format, your installer would have to install the codec, so stick to mpeg or avi formats which are pretty common.

Isn't Directshow deprecated now?

I think Media Foundation is the new way but I have not tried either yet tbh.

This is true, but that doesn't mean directshow will just stop working. You could use Windows media foundation,  but it's a lot more complex...

Sorry for my late respond, I have been very busy lately. I will definitely take a look at Windows Media Foundation and Directshow. Thanks a lot for the answers!
