linux hangs up when using opengl tessellation with many objects

this is normal?, i'm just drawing 2000 cubes with 4x4 constant tessellation levels, the o.s. just hangs up and doesn't show any error message, maybe i'm overshooting the gpu capabilities or a bug of the driver?, when i draw few objects this doesn't happen, its the same thing using traditional uniforms or using uniform buffer objects
