Hello everyone,

I'm very excited to announce the release of my game, Cavernaut! It's a mobile cave flying action game, and it is now available on the App Store and on Google Play.

In Cavernaut, you pilot your spaceship through a mine deep under the surface of an alien planet. Lift off from the launch pad in the deepest cave, and try to make your way to the planet's surface. On your way, you pick up luminum crystals that can be traded in for upgrades, and perhaps you can find the relics from an ancient alien civilization that are scattered throughout the caves. But you have to navigate carefully, or your ship might get zapped by a mining laser. Or crushed by a closing blast door. Or pierced by spikes. Oh, and don't forget to find a landing pad every now and then to refuel!

Features:

  • A randomly generated cave that’s different each time you play
  • Simple touch/tilt controls for super-smooth flying
  • Many upgrades for your ship
  • Cool neoretro graphics
  • Old-school pay once & play, no In-App Purchases

Just a little update to this: Cavernaut is currently in beta testing, I'm busy ironing out the last bugs on my list and doing some polishing work. Looking good so far -- I'm probably going to submit it to Apple for review next week. I even managed to do some successful testing on Android devices already, which suggests that I can release the Android version sooner than I expected (and had announced before).

In the meantime, why not hop over to its indiedb page, for some additional bits of info about Cavernaut?

Just a quick update: The game has already been waiting for review by Apple for a couple of days, but I had to submit a new binary yesterday; while playtesting I discovered a nasty bug that had managed to slip under the radar until now. It was one of those that only get noticed very rarely, but when it does, it's very embarrassing, so I simply could not leave it in. sad.png
Good news is, it's fixed now, but the downside is we will probably have to wait a bit longer until Apple reviews the game and I can release it.

Hey there, Cavernaut has finally been approved by Apple. Yay! That means after more than 3 years development time (on and off, but hey...) I now have an official release date: It will be available on the App Store on September 22. I also created an updated trailer, see the first post.
