I want to make a game but i have no skill!

I have a new game concept,its a 4v4 Moba game.It's always been my dream to make a game but i dont have any skills.Is there any university I can go to pursue my dream??

You will be amazed what you can accomplish over the years with some of the engines out there. Start playing around with one of them and start slow. There are also various tutorials over the net and YouTube to get you started :)

then get the skills needed. It's not rocket science, just a lot of hard work.

10'000 hours of practice to master something... did you already put in 1 hour? Because no university in the world alone can train you to become good at something, you need to do this work yourself. A university can help, but is not mandatory at all.

Check out the many useful tutorials all over the net. Check out recommendations on this forum of which there are a-plenty! Check out engines like Unity or Unreal Engine 4 if you want to get ahead of yourself and start off in 3D, or check out Game Maker if you want to start more modest with 2D.

Then go and try, fail and try again, come back and ask if you really get stuck (and did your google homework), try again and one day, in the future, when you have aquired enough skills and put in many weeks and months and years of hard work, you might be able to realize at least a part of your dream, if not the full thing.

And somewhere along the way you might find out that Game development IS your thing and join a university and college with a lot of knowledge that will allow you to really shine and ace your courses... or you might find out that you do not like it at all, and just saved the money and time for a maybe expensive college.

Just don't expect a shortcut and being able to finish an AAA Game in 21 hours....

Just a note: Steam and other online stores are flooded by absolute garbage that are carelessly slapped together in a game engine, such as Unity, GameMaker, or Unreal Engine .... Please PLEASE take your time and study good game design!

Me, and many other people are getting sick and tired of all the "shovelware" - most common being hallway shooters, walking simulators, and first person horror.

[HERE] is an example of a game that was slapped together in a couple hours, and than sold on Steam - no one wants this junk!

This I can agree with. However what I find kind of bad is the constant bashing of indie games on YouTube. Games like this might be bad to us but someone put their heart and soul into it and thought it good enough to share with the world. Probably a lone developer on a low budget or no budget. If this is their first game and they are met with such a hostile reception (see the YouTube comments) why would they ever be tempted to release something better? ...gamers and especially Youtubers can be so mean and child like. Is this what awaits most of us?...

Simple solution - don't attempt to sell the game on a major publishing site! There are a quite a few malicious "game developers" who intentionally release poor quality game, after poor quality game, after poor quality game ( Digital Homicide is one of the more noteworthy 'companies' ).

Put your early not-so-good games on sites such as itch.io , and please stop believing that "any" game is good enough to be sold for $$$ .

Agreed to some extent....

But:

Leave the Engines out of this. Sure, without the headstart these engines give them these "game devs" most probably wouldn't have gotten so far. Maybe less junk would reach the stores then, maybe the junk that would would be even crappier?

This has nothing to do with using an Engine (its not really the shortcut some people believe it is), and it has little to do with people not knowing much about Game Design.

If there is something to blame, its the race to the bottom when it comes to pricing, at least on the mobile stores. After all, how can you produce good games if the expected profit is so small?

And customers had their hand in that just as much as devs misinterpreting the sales data and coming up with short-term-money-grab strategies. Who downloaded all those flappy bird copies? Why are the notorious f2p casinos still online?

I am certain many people are getting tired of the ever increasing amount of shovelware... it seems there are still customers though. And also, what you call shovelware might be an Indie treasure to someone else.

In the end, this is free markets for you. If the general masses don't want shovelware, shovelware will not be bought. The notorious devs will not make back the little money they invested into their shovelware and leave to rip off people in other lines of work.

In the mean time many others suffer because they do not get noticed, of course. Tough luck. Happens everywhere... all you can do as dev is develop non-shovelware and try harder to get noticed, and as consumer to be pro-active and inform yourself. Don't buy anything without reading reviews...

But I think we went way offtopic here, so I will stop my semi-rant.

The TO should start churning out stuff to learn the trade. If that means producing subpar games to learn so be it. Not many will have a debut game that will be the game of the year, most will need to fall on their face a few times before they learn to walk. Learning good game design isn't done in the ivory tower... its done by getting your hands dirty and making all the stupid mistakes you can. Learning from the mistakes of others is great, but sometimes you need to do them yourself to learn.

Best thing to do is doing some projects not meant for sale first of course, but that is a decision everyone needs to make for him/herself.
