Where to get info about BV-trees

Currently I'm dealing with recast/detour project and trying to make a clear understanding. I'm quite new in the subj, but trying hard. I've noticed a BV-tree structure is used by the proj, but unfortunately I wasn't able to google any valuable infor about it.
 
So I'm looking for any description and if it's deatailed it would be great, can anybody point me one?

"high performance concurrency" is too much probably, but "hierarchical bounding volume tree" sounds like a good term
