Camera Smoothing

I have a 3rd person camera in my game and I need some help with camera smoothing of the location. What I have going for me currently is a linear type smoothing, where I just take the average of the camera''s location. The next type I have going is a spring type smoothing. I was wondering if anyone knows of any other type of smoothing algorithms I can experiment with. Thanks.
