modify landscape texture at run time

Has anyone figured out how to modify the landscape texture while the game engine is running? I''ve tried modifying the level1_shadepic and level1_colorpic structures from TerrainGlobals, but nothing is working. I need this for my virtual terrain model, because the map is fed from the server as the player wanders around the world. The modification of the height is working great, I just need to get the texture to modify too.

The level is stored as a set of 128x128 textures. Currently it loads this from 2048x2048 compressed texture and splits it into pieces. You could change this to save the 128x128 textures as separate file and download them individually.

I''m trying to do the same thing... how are these 128x128 chunks referenced? Once I have the correct usage for getting to a 128x128 piece of the terrain texture, I should just be able to modify it just like in the procedural texture example correct?
