Hello everyone!

I want to learn creating special effects. I consider it will be interesting me. Recently I read an article about creating of effect of fire in a program Magic Particles http://www.gamedev.net/page/resources/_/creative/visual-arts/creating-fire-in-a-particle-editor-r2609.

This article was written several years ago, but now a new version of program was released.

An interface was changed and new special effects were added. Did anyone use the program Magic Particles?

moving to Visual Arts. Anna, not everything in game development is "game design."

Hello. Give these a look:

Particle animation software:

Alex, a Flash FX specialist, he has some process videos. His effects don't use particles, they're hand animated. Maybe send him a message or something:

Thank you! Is it pixel art technology? It is interesting, but it will be difficult for me. I would like to learn program Magic particles, because create nice special effect easier here.

Anna, in case you again might have difficulty posting a reply to a discussion:
There is a green "Reply to this topic" button at the top of the thread, and at the bottom of the thread, there is a big white box with the label "Reply to this topic" on it. The "Report" button is only to be used when you want to notify the administrators and moderators of a problem post (spam or rudeness, for instance).

Since he's using Adobe Flash it is most definitely vector art, designing the graphics using lines and curves the same way that you would do with other software like CorelDRAW, Xara, Illustrator, Inkscape etc.

Magic Particles looks like a decent program. You should also look at After Effects, it's the standard when working with motion graphics.

If you plan to work in a game studio it'd be essential to learn the particle tools in game engines like Unreal, Unity etc. -- you can look for hints of what software to learn in job postings looking for "game FX artists", and by asking employed FX artists what programs they use in the studio.

Thank you, Kruzon! I saw Adobe After Effect. This program does not have own system of particles, but it has several plugins and Magic Particles has plugin for After Effect too.

I don’t know, I will be work in game studio or no. Unity is the game engines for casual games and it has very simple system of particles. Perhaps, a plugin for Unity will be made in the program Magic particles someday. If I were developer the program, I would create this plugin. Especially, there are many games on site of the program.
As for UDK, it was created for huge games, and many companies do not make large projects.
Why do I get the feeling this is a fake account trying to market that program.

No, I am real person. If I want to ask some concrete thing, I must be fake? Maybe are you not real person? I am feeling this too.
I can ask about another program, merely this program was interesting for me.
Excuse me, I did not know, that I cannot add link of another sites.

If you are really looking into learning real-time visual effects, I highly recommend you check out the tutorials of Bill Kladis and ImbueFX. It is a one of a kind source of information on this topic and a true gold mine on this specific art form. It's difficult to gain knowledge about this subject on the internet right now, which is why I want to make tutorials for it.

If I was you, to be honest I would not spend too much time learning Cascade but I highly recommend you get familiar with Unreal Engine 4 and the blueprint system. Once Niagara comes out, learn EVERYTHING there is to know about it and go wild experimenting. Get familiar with shaders/materials, they are very powerful for creating more advanced effects.

Hope this helps!
