I just got an Asus with a 970 or 970m. Definitely don't get a lower graphics card than that or it will be outdated quickly. The 960m is way less powerful.

It doesn't matter what you buy it will be outdated quickly.

That is the nature of computer hardware. Use it because you need to use it.

Unlike certain fine art and collectables, computer hardware does not increase in value over time. For office-based businesses it is one of the fastest depreciating items.

Well the 60 series of geforces are always low end so better to pitch in a bit more. No use for a laptop that you can't upgrade unlike a desktop.

I found out that the Lenovo's I'm getting can have memory added to them, so that will be a big advantage over macs.

I can add 8gb to the Lenovos that will come with 4gb, for $100. Would that be plenty of memory/RAM?

I have got a Dell M5510 and it has been absolutely flawless for development.

My specs:

Xeon E3- 1505M v5 @ 2.8Ghz

16GB Ram

Nvidia Quadro M1000M

Edit: Didnt notice your budget, this is gonna be a bit outside of that price range, the Lenovo are pretty good within the price range you want thats what I had before, 8GB should be more than enough.

Thanks!

I thought I had a good resource about that in my bookmarks and I've just found it: Tips for buying notebook with decent graphics

It is regularly updated (last update in March 2016).

Definition of a man-year: 730 people trying to finish the project before lunch

Well, I think this Dell 7559 is also decent ( http://www.amazon.com/Dell-Inspiron-i7559-2512BLK-Generation-GeForce/dp/B015PYZ0J6/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1461356734&sr=8-3&keywords=dell+gaming ) . But it would also greatly appreciate an M.2 SSD as well.

And GTX960M is enough for most tasks, 970 doesn't justify its cost imo.
