Peer-to-peer protocols - help!

Hi, We are two third-year computer-science students, taking a workshop course in network-programming. In this workshop we wish to turn a Robot-Simulation program we created into a multiplayer peer-to-peer application. Unfortunately we are obliged by the workshop instructor to use an existing protocol (preferably based on a published RFC). If you know a protocol/RFC describing peer-to-peer architecture -We would be grateful for your help. Michal & Tamir.
