This post is intended to look for direct feedback for the layout of my User Interface as well as any feedback in regards to the User Experience via interaction with the game. Ideas and general layout are below. Please comment on anything you feel or see that should be changed.

I am looking for some feedback for my UI (images attached). The game was a text adventure - but has now gone towards the way of point and click. I have it laid out with a full screen background that is contextual to where you are in the game world. Then on the left side is your UI. On the right I have the game text appear in a window that ends just before the UI menu. There are three main portions:

Status (middle), Core Actions (top), and Contextual Categories (bottom)

Here are in game screen shots for the item UI. It has a popover for item details.

Here is the default screen when adventuring:

This is the shop screen when in a town:

And some other various in game shots:

I was wondering if this UI looked good, because there may be another option for me. I was hoping to get some feedback. All images are attached so if you would like to mark them up - that would be great!

If you want to try it out for the UX portion of feedback, you can use the test server found at: https://adventuregamequest.azurewebsites.net

Thank you!

They are very well drawn! But I surely would point out the black color, I can tell its value, I bet it is x000000. You should tweak it a bit, to step out of 256bit traditional color scale, be it still very black.

I want to make clear that this is a mock of the UI and the icons are commercial free icons from http://game-icons.net/. Unless, you were talking about the font or the UI Mock? Does it lay out well?

Well then, you should have asked for UI layout criticism directly, and that, is hard to give you a valid opinion about, without actual experiencing the very UI/UX by interaction.

Maybe someone will point out something further.

My bad, I thought he Title "UI/UX Feedback" was clear. Also, at the bottom of my post was a request for UX feedback with a link to the site. I will be clearer after editing it.

Hello _Martin.
What I would do if I were tasked with improving the UI:

- Use a darker scheme, or at least use a much lower contrast scheme. If you're going to have people looking at screens for a long time I would avoid bright backgrounds.
- Add colour to make the interface richer.
- Experiment with removing the black square frames from icons that are just symbols.
That is, for icons that are not buttons (like what I believe is a heart symbol for health points, a lightning symbol etc.), experiment with making their backgrounds transparent.

Would this be a better background for the menu then? I made a light transparent grayish background. Should I go for a larger font with a softer black color? The Icons I will work on next. Is there a tool I can use, or that you use, that would help with color schemes?

I prefer that over the white. If a new font helps with reading and adds character to the theme, you should change it.
You have to rely on your own taste for these modifications you make.

If you don't know what else to do, try seeing some reference images and analysing what they're using.

You can use these to help with picking a colour scheme:
