Questions for Game Course

Hello everyone,

 

In my class this week we are talking about promoting our game. I am looking for some of the "best" ways to sell the idea for my prototype and proof of concept. I would have a hard enough time trying to approach a company to pitch them my game, but if I were able to take that step I would want to be prepared with all my information to present, but I am wondering if there are certain key points that a company may want to hear about when someone tries to sell the game to the company. I almost feel like not having an actual game designed for them to see makes it harder, but I feel you need to start somewhere with the right ideas or points in mind. So some of my questions are:

  1. Is their any advice you could give on how to approach a company about pitching my ideas
  2. What, if any, are some of the key points a company may be looking for when receiving these ideas
  3. Are there any advantages to crowdsourcing my ideas?
  4. Are there any disadvantages to crowdsourcng?

We really don't like helping students with their homework here. We prefer
students do real research, by looking for existing information. I'm moving
this question to our Business/Law forum, where there are several questions
about marketing. You should read those, and glean what tips you can from
other posters who have asked for marketing tips. Good luck with your class!
