Spellspun is a tough, retro-style arcade game. There is no side-to-side movement, no dodging: you are rooted to the center of the screen. Your only defense against hordes of monsters are the powerful spells taught to you by your companion, Argenstrayd. With no escape, each wave becomes a test of your reflexes and decision-making skills.

One small problem: Argenstrayd happens to be an ancient animate spellbook, previously handled by only the most powerful mages... And you're barely out of your apprentice robes. Needless to say, he is not pleased with being commanded by someone of your rank!

Spellspun's defining feature is the relationship between the main characters, and how it effects the larger story. Argenstrayd takes many hidden factors into account, and will assess your skill and personality based on them. A moment of hesitation or lack of finesse in your spellcasting will cause him to regard you even less fondly. Will you settle on a strained partnership with the contemptuous old book, try to impress him with your skill, or perhaps even succeed in forging a genuine friendship? Gaining his loyalty will no doubt be a task harder than any monster you might face...
