Radiance/Irrandiance cubemap generation

Hi,
I would open this post about the experiences in radiance/irradiance cubemap generation.
I don't speak about the mipmap LOD, cubemap lookup or reflectance calcule but really on the generation of the radiance/irradiance cubemap.
I always used tools to generate the .dds, which works good but it can be nice to hear more about the real process behind it and experiences on it.
