Esoteric Software has announced the release of their new Spine Runtime for Unreal Engine 4. The spine-ue4 runtime is based on spine-c, a generic runtime for integrating Spine animations in game engines and frameworks written in C, C++, Swift, Rust, Objective-C or any other language that can natively interface with C.

spine-c exposes the entire API through Blueprint nodes as well as C++ components you can easily add to your game objects. Extensive spine-ue4 documentation and a sample project are available.

Spine is an animation tool that focuses specifically on 2D animation for games. Spine aims to have an efficient, streamlined workflow, both for creating animations using the editor and for making use of those animations in games using the Spine Runtimes. Learn more at the Spine website.
