In his latest tech notes, John Carmack explains the algorithm behind the visual improvements in GearVR's new Oculus Home update, which he says includes a brand new Oculus runtime system. With the buzz-phrase of "Cylindrical TimeWarp Layers", Carmack explains that the visual improvements in the technique bring the quality of mobile VR closer to the expected hardware performance.
