Hey guys,

I want to ask you guys, what 3D modeling software should be used to make and sculpt weapons for games?

And i also want to ask, when you make something metal in a 3D modeling software, how do you make it shiny LIKE metal? Is there a software i should use for that?

Any 3D modelling software can be used. Blender is a popular free option.

The specifics will vary by the rendering software in use, but in general metallic materials have low surface roughness, and high reflectivity. You should be able to find tutorials for whatever software you choose.

I second Blender for this. Else check Maya and 3ds Max, however you will be paying a lot extra for a easier interface with those two.

The most important part is material like @swiftcoder said. However the normals are also a very large factor on producing the correct hard edge look for metal object.

Modeling weapons for games is not a overnight thing, it's going to take years of practice before you can make AAA game models. You also need to know how the weapon you are making works.

3D Coat is the best solution for this, and the cheapest.
