Composer looking for feedback

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I'm a composer in Michigan looking to break into the games industry. I have a masters in composition and have been recording and producing my own work for about 12 years. I would love some feedback on my video game reel. I think the compositions are good, I'm just worried they might not be "video game-y" enough?

Here's my demo reel.

Thank!

With the games your making, what do you fear most?
Is it not making any money, never finishing, releasing something broken?
Personally, I am most afraid of releasing something that no one cares about. I would rather make something that everyone hates with a passion, because at least there is passion. If a player feels absolutely nothing or doesn't even care to look, I feel like I failed.
      What does everyone here think?

Over ninety minutes of solemn gloom and Gothic epicness, with faint glimmers of hope shimmering here and there...

Hi, I just released the soundtrack to the new indie game Unworthy. I had fun making it and thought maybe some people around here would have fun listening to it!
      Cheers!

This is a rescore of several Sin scenes from Final Fantasy X, put into an epic cinematic with accompanying, original soundtrack!

While my demos advertise a significantly large range of composition styles it does not encompass my entire range.

I have been working with people in both professional and personal settings for over 14 years now and am extremely easy to work with. I believe that music in many ways can make or break a game and it is my goal to provide your game with the musical life that you desire and it deserves.

      Hi,
I'd like to present LogicEmu, a new logic circuit emulator working in the browser:
      http://lodev.org/logicemu/
It's somewhat different from most logic circuit emulators, because it's cell based and internally with 2D ASCII diagrams, and it comes with a huge ton of circuits prebuilt which can be immediately selected from dropdowns to try out all kinds of cool stuff!
How is it related to gamedev? It's an educational game, it's also vaguely like minecraft redstone, and may be useful for developing/testing/verifying such circuitry engines in games. It's open source on github to see how it works.
Please let me know any feedback. Suggestions, bugs, overall impressions, critique, ... are all super welcome
      Thanks!

      Hey guys,
I am a composer from Sydney, Australia, currently based in Munich, Germany.
I've composed for short films, theatre and various other projects and am looking to expand my portfolio and write and adapt more of my music to games. I'm very passionate about your medium and would be thrilled to collaborate.
Below are some of my compositions. I suppose I favour a more orchestral style, however, electronic, gritty or atmospheric would also suit. Open to many areas, really.
Would love to hear from any developers who believe my music can fit into their creation!
Rates would depend on the project and should be negotiated.
      Cheers,
      Alex

Would anyone be able to offer up some advice on my resume as well as have any pointers/tips when applying to a game designer job?
I've been applying everyday for over a month for positions ranging from internships to full time game designer positions.
      Any advice would be helpful!
