Publishing everything can be harmful in early stages?

We are rising team of mobile game developers. Mainly we create games for Android and recently we finished a game that is considered boring by us. We could not decide to publish it or rather not. Do you think that  when you are unknown on the market it is more profitable to release something just to make some rumour around you or rather that will just bring more harm to you studio image

Mobile audiences don't seem to exhibit a whole lot of brand loyalty in the first place, and you definitely can't inspire that without a compelling release.

Mobile app stores are very crowded, and games that aren't fun to play and at least somewhat unique don't tend to stand out of the pack...

There is nothing to be gained by publishing a boring game. Either figure out how to make it not boring, or move on to something else. If you put it away for a while, maybe at some point someone will figure out how to fix it. But don't release it just to release it.

On second thought, maybe there is an exception: it would not be unreasonable to center a contest on it. Set up a forum where entrants and bystanders can discuss ideas to improve the game - but you have to be ready to act upon the best suggestions, at least give them a try. It could result in a better game, or it might never generate the necessary community. Still, the likelihood of making reasonable money from it is low. It could be part of a longer-term plan.

I mostly agree with Tom, there's not really anything to gain from releasing a boring game, and if people remember it it could possibly damage your reputation with future customers...

But, swiftcoder makes a good point about the lack of brand loyalty amongst many customers, so it may be educational to release the game (probably with different branding than you plan to use in future, just in case) just so you can experience the process of doing so.

Have you got any feedback on the game yet?  Maybe there are some changes you could make to make it more fun. :)
