Hey there!

I wanted to share some information on how the characters and overall design of Bouncy Smash evolved over time. Most game creators know that art direction is usually always a work in progress. What you start out with in your sketchbook can look drastically different by the time the game releases!

I’m including some screenshots of early concept art, completed with good old paper and pencil, and digital versions of some of Bouncy Smash’s character designs. Though the characters started in 2D, over time IV Studios converted the entire game to 3D. They worked closely with a studios in Minneapolis called Lunar Saloon on the initial designs. You can see images of the transition process and quotes from a team member from Lunar Saloon here: https://lunarsaloon.com/work/bouncy-smash-characters/

I’d love to see how your initial sketchbook concepts changed over time. Share your concept art and screenshots of your work with us!
