You don''t need to backup Windows if you want to install Linux. In the worst case you have to reinstall Windows and you lost all you''re data, ain''t that bad huh? Actually, I would advise that you backup Windows. If you accidently delete you''re Windows partition all you''re data is lost. How to backup it up? Copy all files to another disk, except Win386.swp and burn them on Cd. Why not Win386.swp? That''s the windows swap file and it cannot be copied if Windows is running. You can also use Norton Ghost to backup it up. I used ghost a while ago just after I installed windows. Every time that Windows messes up, I look if there is any vital data on my disk, if so I back them up. Then I boot from my "Ghost CD"(Just a bootable CD with Ghost and the image on it) and overwrite my Windows partition with the fresh new image. I can get Windows up and running in just 5 mins after it messes up !
