What about WildTangent ?
Hello, I''ve been reading about and practicing the art of game programming for around 6 months now, but I recently found this software (WildTangent http://www.wildtangent.com)that seems to have totally reduced the learning curve and time expected to get advanced results to much less than half the time It would to get an understanding of either OpenGL or DirectX.
I know many of you have already seen this software, but I know that there must be many out there who haven''t. I wanted to know, what ''real'' developers think about this software, and even with the claims made by its developers about true hardware acceleration etc, what are the drawbacks, if any about using such technology, and is this realy the future of the Gaming industry.
Please give me some insight, because to me it all looks good and well, but I''m a newbie and well that says alot about my experience on the matter.
It is probably a good place to learn how game engines are put together, but as I understand it, most developement houses always write their own game engines or reuse their own engine for the games they create.

So I should continue my education in DirectX and OpenGL then for the long term, but use this API to get a basic feel for the way a game or engine is run. Makes sense to me, because one of the biggest problems I''m having with the API''s(DX & OGL) is that apart from the cryptic errors I sometimes spend hours trying to figure out, is that it takes so much effort (time and patience) sometimes to get any real results, or the results that you wanted( oh the frustration ). Anyways thanks for the post man.
