lock to surfs???

i was wondering if you can read and move arounf the pixels on a ddraw surf without locking it?? or if you have to lock it can you lock to surfs at the same time without to much slow down?? cause i want to try and read two surfs and apply some alpha blending to the top one exp: src->Lock( NULL, &ddsd, DDLOCK_WAIT, NULL); dest->Lock( NULL, &ddsd, DDLOCK_WAIT, NULL); some crazy code dest->Unlock( NULL); src->Unlock( NULL);
