I just read the article on GameDev.net regarding loading JPEGs to DirectDraw surfaces - and the question came to me, does the surface have to be 24-bit in order to load a JPEG to it? Will it not display on any other bit depth? I haven''t tried it yet myself, because I haven''t downloaded the Intel JPEG library, but was hoping someone could tell me if this was the case or not. Thanks.

I don''t know anything about JPEG''s compression format or about that article. But in any case, you can load the image onto a temporary 24-bit surface and then copy the contents of this surface to the required surface by using GDI''s BitBlt function.
