If you''ve heard of Allegro, you''ve probably heard how powerful it is on several platforms (Windows, Linux, BeOS, DOS..). It is basically a wrapper lib that will work with whatever is best on any given platform. Don''t change a single line of code to recompile. It can use DirectX / and or OpenGL in Windows, and makes graphics, sound, input, and loading data files really, really easy. The hard part use to be installing. I''ve put together some graphical, point and click Allegro library installers for several Windows C/C++ compilers. Currently supported: Microsoft Visual C/C++ Dev-C++ (mingw and possibly cygwin) Borland 5.5 (and possibly earlier) My site is here: http://springsoft0.tripod.com/index.html Now that 4.0 is out, it is a great time to try out this wonderful library!

AHHHh! I already have exceeded the max bandwidth for my site and it has been shut down! I still haven''t finished the mirrors yet and so until I do, please feel free to email me if you would like an installer and tell me for which compiler(s). I''ll e-mail it right to ya.. Sorry. pikeknight@aol.com

I have another mirror up: http://galileo.spaceports.com/~springs/
Hopefully this one will last longer. Sorry for any inconvenience.

I have noticed Allegro has evolved nicely and a grahpical installer would help out greatly. Good idea.

The nightmare travels across the cosmos with his burning mane. The trail of ash that is produced.

?Have a nice day!?

Thanks, I hope it helps give the lib the recognition it deserves.

By the way, spaceports is still working well. I''m working on getting a pay one up, but have run into complications for now. :p
