Selling Linux Games

Recommended Posts

Selling Linux games is just like selling Windows games - it''s free. You do not have to pay anybody licenses, but you bear the entire responsibility of publishing, advertising and managing your revenue stream, such as it is.

Linux has not been very successful for commercial games so far; the dismal sales of Quake 3 Arena were enough to cause id to state that they would not be releasing any more products for Linux commercially, though they would continue to release unsupported binaries to the community. Loki (the Linux games-porting house) files for bankruptcy, and many retailers stated they will not be carrying Linux games again (for the forseeable future).
