DirectX and Windows XP

So my engine takes digitized terrain data and renders it using directX. For one set of data I''m pushin'' 2-300 thousand polygons and the second set of data I''m pushin'' 7-800 thousand polygons. On my GeForce2 card under windows 98 I get a nice 70 fps for the first set of data and a dismal 15 fps for the second set. My problem is when I run the damn thing under windows XP I get 8 fps for the first set of data and 4 fps for the second set. (Its the same hardware, my system dual boots) Any ideas as to what could be ''causing this annoyance? --Ravenshadow

Just a guess, but I had something similar after installing DX8 on Win98. I just reinstalled the video card''s (also Geforce 2) driver and it worked again.
