Can anyone recommend a good site to get information on UML, how to apply and use it. (I don''t want to download the door stop that is the official spec). A tutorial site, or a site with electronic books / downloadable files would be really appreciated ! TIA, Bagpuss.

I haven''t found much of real world use of XML. One program that looked promising (but was broke when i got it) was AgroUML (http://argouml.tigris.org/). Another one that functions, but has a bad user interface is, UML for Linux (http://uml.sourceforge.net/). As for theory and knowledge, I honestly don''t think UML is very usefull outside a corporate, colabrative setting; not for lack of utility, but for lack of utilities.
Until I have tried it I won''t know, but I want to strucutre my design more, and I cannot use the methods we use here at work as they do not suit OO type programming, and it is years since I did anything Like JSP, so I would like to learn a more modern approach. Any other recomendations for methods ?

This is yet another topic I''ve been meaning to look into more..

This is the best UML tool I''ve found that you can get your hands on for free (well you can get a crippled version for free, can''t save projects). But it comes with some tutorial that seemed pretty good - I haven''t gone over all of them but the seem geared towards the newbie.

Go and get yourself a copy of UML Distilled by Martin Fowler. Probably the most concise book you will ever buy !
