new 2D array

can anyone tell me what''s going on here, I''m getting an error: char *words[ BUF_SIZE ][ BUF_SIZE ]; ... words = new char[ 2 ][ 2 ]; //cannot convert from char(*)[2] to char *[128][128] I don''t know how to fix this, please help, thanks tons.

I''m not exactly sure what the problem is, but I''m assuming from your error that you can''t assign a pointer to memory on the stack to a pointer to memory of a differnt size on the heap.
