Moral games

Can anybody think of any moral games out there? I don''t mean totally non-violent, but I really get sick of all the blood and foul language that are becoming the standard. You used to be able to trust certain companies for their content, but even they have gone bad...the only one I can think of left is Logic Factory, but they seem to have disappeared. My main point is, the only two current games I''ve seen that could be called moral are Descent3 and Need for Speed 3. Can anybody point me toward any others? Please? Thanks... 2mikes.com

I think some genras are better than others. Good luck finding a first person shooter that''s "moral." Off hand, I think sport games would probably be your best guess.

BTW, since when did outrunning cops at over 150 MPH become moral?
Let me clarify a little what I consider moral:
The only two (and 1/2) moral FPS''s I''ve played are the Dark Forces series by LucasArts. No foul language, still had attitude, fun to play, and only a few drops of blood in Dark Forces. Another one that came close was Rise of the Triad, because you could turn off the blood. The new Indy game is very borderline.
MechWarrior II was both moral and fun, until Mercenaries, where you had the idiot drill instructor and a few interspersed bad words in the mission briefings. MechWarrior 3 went way over the line by making your starmates curse when they killed or died. I know this is kind of a long call; I am expecting a lot from the industry. Thanks in advance (and to I-Shaolin) for any help you could give!

P.S. Speeding is not a question of morality. It''s a question of wisdom and law...

I am trying to understand how it is moral to kill someone, but only so long as you see no more than "a few drops of blood."

Kind of a explosive topic, this.

Well although it does involve violence (although not graphically explicit like some games) Baldur''s Gate is arguable quite a ''moral'' game.

For a start your party has an ''alignment'', that is whether they are good or bad, and the party also has reputation depending on their actions. Being good has obvious rewards.

For instance characters in the game will ask if you can do something to help them. If you do you may be rewarded in a number of ways, not least of which is experience points and increase in reputation (which in turn benefits you in other ways).

Bottom line is that you gain a lot more from being good and helping others, with an interesting story thrown in for good measure!!

Uh oh. Here we go with the question of morality. I just used the word for lack of any better--I didn''t mean anything special. I don''t disagree with violence in computer games. That''s generally their point. However, when the games do their best to make the violence realistic, the fun goes out of it. I prefer the cartoonier look when they just fly around like puppets. Yeah, it sounds morbid, but it''s not as ''real''. A good example of my point is that I love war strategy--resupply lines, angles of attack, morale, etc. But I would hate to be in a war. I don''t agree with people killing each other en masse, but I love the thought process it takes to do so efficiently.

Also, does anyone think there is a market for bloodless games? More specifically, would you still play Quake 3 or Unreal if there was no blood? Would you play Descent Freespace if they didn''t say "d*** it" when they died? Do you think you could sell games better on a ''moral'' reputation? I may have found my marketing angle...

BTW, I think I''ll take a look at Baldur''s Gate...

Thanks for posting!

I think what GalaxyD was trying to get at is "censored", not moral, per se. i.e. follow the "Lucas Formula" of no blood, no foul language, no nudity/sexual intercourse. Hmm, guess that could mean any of LucasArts'' games would probably fit this definition.
My list:
-Comander Keen (well, 4 to 6 and Keen Dreams)
-Nerf Arena Blast
-Duke Nukum, Duke Nukem II (yes, there actually aren''t obsenities, sex, or blood)
-The Dig (at least I don''t remember any obsenities)
-the King''s Quest series
There are plenty of "moral" games. Just about any game made by SquareSoft, Anything by Sid Meyer, Most all good adventure games.

The fallout series probably has the most "Immoral" actions in a game.. (sex, lesbian sex, really really violent killing (of children), drugs, alchohol, prostitution (of your wife))

But its fun to play, you really get into these evil characters. You could choose not to do an aimed shot to the head of the little kid... but he keeps throwing rocks at you for killing his dad who dug up a girls body from the local cemetary and wrapped it paper machet and made an "Egyptian Mummy" sideshow out of it.. and you cant exit combat mode cause the stupid kid has like 12 AP and you get really angry and then the next thing you know your karma tab says "CHILD KILLER" and bounty hunters are on your ass all the time... THE HORROR... THE HORROR *gasp*... anyhow... Where were we? I forget.. Im gonna go play Fallout 2.

I''m sorry but speeding and risking the life of other people I believe is a big question of morality.
SonicSilcion - Duke Nukem? No nudity and no blood? For example, remember the level called the "red light districit". I think the name says it all..but, well here we go; there was a porn mag store, a movie theater (yes that kind), stripers (try hitting space hehe) etc. As far as the blood goes...using the shrinker/freezer wasnt that bloody, but the rest...
