i have a bitmap read in (so all the colors are in RGB format) this bitmap has between 100 and 1000 different colors... i need to reduce the colors to a specified number... so what i need to do is combine colors that are close in value to for a bitmap with a lower color count (user specified... usually about 100). I know there is a cute little formula to convert a color (RGB) into an intesity value... so you can compare the intesity values (much like greyscale) and see which colors are the closest so then you can reduce the color count (that is my working theory anyway). So if any of yas know a formula like that or some other cute way to compare colors lemme know please. Merry Xmas! Brett Lynnes cheez_keeper@hotmail.com
