have you included dsound.h and dshow.h in your app as well??
try including windows.h BEFORE anything else..sometimes this has been the only answer to weird compiling errors I get..

do you include the dxguid.lib in your linking??

I tried adding windows.h first and including the dsound and dshow headers, but it still doesn''t compile for some odd reason.
I''m using Borland''s C++Builder and the VCL, I don''t know if that would make any difference.

it does

do a google search (or maybe there''s an article here on gamedev) for setting up your borland environment for DX apps..
