Inverse cinematics, what is it and what is it used for? (Beginer-Intermediate level)
I would like to know what does inverse cinematics is, and what it is used for, could anyone explain it pls?. Any good tutorial on the subject? just for starting.
thnx in advance.

I''ve never heard of ''inverse cinematics'', but ''inverse kinematics'' refers to the math involved in finding joint parameters when you''re given a point in space. For example... You know where your 3D character is standing, and you know how tall he is, how long his arms are, etc. You want to find out how he''s got to move to pick up something off of the table, so you use inverse kinematics.
I''m only a little bit familiar with it from a robotics perspective.

Yes, I think you´re right, in english it is called inverse kinematic (I think) :], I translate it directly from spanish :]. Thnx for answering :]. Could anybody explain it a little more and give any tutorial?
Inverse Kinematics is used in model animation. I know that 3D Studio Max has some nice inverse kinematics capabilities. MOst animation of 3d character is done by setting up bones, and telling the bones how to rotate for each keyframe. With inverse kinematics, you tell the joint where to go, and it handles how it will rotate the bones to get it there.
Try this link, a nice explanation is given on IK stuff:

Inverse cinematics is when you go to the movies and stand on your head. The picture appears inverted. Sorry, had to say that...

I finally got it all together...
...and then forgot where I put it.
