Hi there I was just wandering if anyone knows of a good program, preferably that''s free what I can use to keep track of my code and keep backups of it. At work I use source safe, which is kinda what i want but I think that''s probably a bit to expensive for me to buy for home. I know that most people probably just change code until its all working properly but I find i most annoying when I have most of my code working then change a bit and everything gets all messed up and I can''t remember how to get it working again, thanks in advance to anyone that can help. Pies

still haven''t used cvs but others have recommende it to me

you could do what I do though, simply burn an image of the project (the entire directory and everything else that it needs) to a cd. You can either use lots of different cds, or manually make seperate versions of it on the cd (tell it to make a new directory with build numbers or something) or just use an app like nero that will detect any changes and update the cd for you.

I use SourceSafe (''cos it comes with my MSDN subscription), but it''s not free.

People speak moderately highly of CVS.
