Well check that MySQL is running on your host before trying to connect to it.

mysqladmin is just a front-end to ''mysql'', and mysql is the mysql client.

mysqld is the actual server. So make sure it is running.

There is a tutorial that comes with mySQL. It is very straightforward and explains how to start the server and how to manage it.

Make it work.

Also, to interface to MySQL with PHP via the Apache server, you have to edit a config file (I''m not sure what the filename is) for the Apache server. I wish I could tell you more what to do, but I don''t know the settings off the top of my head.

Suffice to say, if things aren''t running right, you are only a few steps from getting things running right. It''s just a matter of finding out exactly what to do.
