OpenGL Making Multi-view OpenGL

If I wanted to make a game with a split screen, in this case two 2d views into the same world- how would I do this in OpenGL? Would I use the glViewport and maybe shift the orthoganal matrix? and would I actually render to a texture and then blit that to the screen? Thanks, Ranger
