I am in my second year of university, studying computer science, next year I will have the oppurtunity to have an industrial placement at the company of my choice. I am extremely eager to carry out this placement at a game developer within the UK. I was wondering if anybody has managed to do this, and if so where and do you have any tips for seeking out a placement with a games development company. Bearing in mind my current level of complexity, i.e. one of the more complex assignments to date was to use UML to design a vending machine.

I''m currently looking for an industrial placement in the UK too. I''d love to do my placment with a games company but I''ve pretty much ruled it out as very few companies take on placement students.

The games industry is not yet mature enough to realise the benifits of such schemes so finding a company will to take you on will not be easy.

Something that might be worth a try is the many careers agencies for the games industry. Look for placements for graduate sudents and see if they are willing to take you on for a year.

But to be honest it''ll be very tough and you''ll need to have some very impressing work to show them but good luck!
